Office Support Volunteer
What You Will Do:
Assist staff with various office tasks, including mailings, event coordination, preparation for classes/presentations, reception, data entry and other related duties.
Time Commitment:
- 2+ hours/week
- Flexible, daytime hours (between 9am and 4pm)

On-the-job
Requirements:
- Interest in NAMI’s mission and programs
- Knowledge of office operations and equipment
- Willing to take direction

Event Volunteer
What You Will Do:
Build awareness of NAMI SE MN at public events by assisting with event-related logistics, sharing information about NAMI, answering questions and supporting staff.

- Passionate about NAMI’s mission and programs
- Friendly and approachable
- Willing to take direction

NAMIWalks Planning Volunteer
What You Will Do:
- Register to be a team participant or team captain
- Lead by example
- Assist staff with outreach to recruit new and connect with past Walkers
- Assist staff in soliciting new event sponsors and donors
- Assist with logistics of pre-event activities
- Assist with Walk Day (9/24/22)
Time Commitment:
Flexible and project-based

Requirements:
- Passion for NAMI Southeast Minnesota's mission
- Friendly and outgoing: not afraid to talk on the phone or in person
- Willing to ask others to get involved/support NAMI
- Willing to take direction

Connection Support Group Facilitator
What You Will Do:
Provide a welcoming, safe, judgment-free space for participants in NAMI’s Connection Support Group, a free peer-based, mutual support group for people living with mental illness.
Time Commitment:
- Connection Support Group training (2 days)
- 2+ hours 2-4 times/month (90 minutes for the support group, 30 minutes of preparation)
- 1-year minimum commitment
Training:
2 days; offered twice a year (spring and fall) by NAMI Minnesota. There are limited spots available; we prioritize participants who regularly attend the support group and/or are involved with NAMI SE MN in other ways.
Requirements:
- Identification as a person living with mental illness who is willing to share their wellness journey with others
- Ability to pass a background check
- Successful training completion
- Past attendance at the Connection Support Group
If you are interested and have never attended a support group, please make plans to do so soon! Previous participation is a requirement of all facilitators.

Family Support Group Facilitator
What You Will Do:
Maintain a confidential, safe, culturally affirming setting guiding participants in NAMI’s Family Support Group, a free, peer-based, mutual support group for people with a loved one living with mental illness.
Time Commitment:
- Family Support Group training (1 day)
- 2+ hours 1-2 times/month (90 minutes for the support group, 30 minutes of preparation)
- 1-year minimum commitment
Training:
1 day, offered twice a year (spring and fall) by NAMI Minnesota. There are limited spots available; we prioritize participants who regularly attend the support group and/or are involved with NAMI SE MN in other ways.
Requirements:
- Identification as a person with a family member living with mental illness who is willing to share their journey with others
- Successful training completion
- Past attendance at the Family Support Group
If you are interested and have never attended a support group, please make plans to do so soon! Previous participation is a requirement of all facilitators.

Volunteer Peer Supporters
What You Will Do:
Work one-on-one with a person experiencing mental health challenges to provide support, encouragement and model recovery.
Requirements:
- Identification as a person living with mental illness who is willing to share their recovery journey with others
- Ability to pass a background check
- Successful completion of the Volunteer Peer Support training
We are making some changes to our Volunteer Peer Support program, so we are not adding new Volunteer Peer Supporters at this time.
If you are interested in this role, please complete the application process so we can keep you up to date on the next training.
